Assignment 2: Scene Graphs

Overview

The purpose of this assignment was to familiarize students with a JSON-based scene file format that we use in the class to create virtual environments. The art contest was to see what students could do with this (very limited!) 3D rendering engine by taking advantage of hierarchical linear transformations. My art contest submission is the basic idea behind what will be fully fleshed out in my real piece. I want Goku from Dragon Ball to be in a clash of Kamehameha beams with Goku Black, an antagonist from Dragon Ball who stole Goku's body in another timeline. In the final product, I want to add Super Saiyan Professor Tralie helping Goku out to win the beam clash against his foe, therefore saving the ruined city from the villain!

The sonic-mesh.off file is a generated mesh that is translated from a .fbx file that I found online. "Sonic-fbx" was created by mreedturtle on Sketchfab.
